Learning Objectives

  • Learners be introduced to problem-solving concept as well as the process of problem-solving and decision making.
  • Learners will gain understanding of the various models, popular techniques and approaches used in problem-solving today.
  • Learners will acquire knowledge of how to apply problem-solving techniques to in day-to-day scenarios as well as for decision making under volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous and stressful situations.

Learning outcomes

  • Learners can expect to be able to effectively choose the appropriate problem-solving and decision-making techniques and processes for a given problem.
  • Learners will be able to conduct inquiry, analyze and synthesize problem related contexts, information for effective decision making and overall organizational performance.
  • Learners will be able to assess situational challenges, recognise and manage cognitive biases, and conceptual blocks as well as device ways to arrive at problem-solving.
  • Learners will be able to engage in participate in teams tasked with problem-solving or even assume leadership positions for such exercises.

Pre-qualification

It is advised that learners take this course after taking other life skill courses particularly communication, self-management, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity as problem-solving capabilities relies heavily on these skills and associated competencies.
