Target Audience
Problem-solving skills course is part of a series of courses on life skills. It is targeted at individuals 18-35 years, in employment, unemployed or in college, looking to enter the workforce or go into self-employment.
Learning Objectives
- Learners be introduced to problem-solving concept as well as the process of problem-solving and decision making.
- Learners will gain understanding of the various models, popular techniques and approaches used in problem-solving today.
- Learners will acquire knowledge of how to apply problem-solving techniques to in day-to-day scenarios as well as for decision making under volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous and stressful situations.
Learning outcomes
- Learners can expect to be able to effectively choose the appropriate problem-solving and decision-making techniques and processes for a given problem.
- Learners will be able to conduct inquiry, analyze and synthesize problem related contexts, information for effective decision making and overall organizational performance.
- Learners will be able to assess situational challenges, recognise and manage cognitive biases, and conceptual blocks as well as device ways to arrive at problem-solving.
- Learners will be able to engage in participate in teams tasked with problem-solving or even assume leadership positions for such exercises.
Pre-qualification
It is advised that learners take this course after taking other life skill courses particularly communication, self-management, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity as problem-solving capabilities relies heavily on these skills and associated competencies.
